First impressions exceeded expectations when I walked into Brookside Market this evening. It was early, 5:15 pm, but the restaurant was already busy. I placed a large takeout order at 4:30 and was told 45 minutes. I had to wait an extra 10 minutes but I was totally fine with that. It's to be expected with a new restaurant. Especially in Jacksonville, where a new restaurant is pretty much the most exciting thing in town haha. Back to first impressions: hip, great deli, spectacular pizza oven, more dining space than I expected, great open kitchen to watch the action, plenty of staff to take care of the crowds... really couldn't ask for much else. Except the food. The order I placed was for 7 people and spanned much of the menu. I'll start with the good. Pizza pizza pizza... out of this world pizza. The burger. The meat was juicy and perfectly cooked. Beyond these two items, I want impressed... and in one dish I was served raw chicken. I won't go into detail on the bad. I want to give Brookside a chance. The menu looks fantastic and I really want them to succeed. Welcome to the neighborhood Brookside. I am sincerely looking forward to round two... I'll give it a few weeks. .

This place is awesome!!!! GREAT food and the atmosphere is really cool!!! We need a place like this in Phoenix...totally hip!!! I couldn’t stay Bc they were so busy but I did carry out and the crab soup and the salads we order were really fresh...grilled romaine style and the blackened chicken was so juicey and tender. I think the biggest hit for my three boys was the crispy french fries!!! Oy! Soooo YUM!
